The rectangular port below the popsicle makers would have made a great engine if it were filled with a diffuser and a bank of LED's. Or it would make a kool hanger deck if filled with smaller ships and lit up.

This model qould never hold up under the hot lights especially since you use hot glue. I build movie models and have been for many years and j have had models start dmoking and melting from all the heat feom theights cause in person it might look like that the model and the shot is over saturated withight and way to bright and hot but on camera its really either not enough ot the perfect amlunt of light. Also you always build the model starting at armature. And gotta have hard edges spft edges will ruin any model ship panneling wise. This looks good for andeak model but not a hero shot model

Apparently I’m really late to the message board because this just popped up on my feed for building spaceships from scratch materials… Regardless I found this video very informative and I’m glad that I watched it because I’m about to go where no one has gone before “breaking out the hot glue gun and going to town on helpless random bits of plastic stuff!!”

please look up one of the many videos here on youtube about detailing model spaceships, especially applying washes and weathering; it'll make it look 1000% more realistic and detailed - adam savage has some good vids on building ship models and detailing them

Bro. There was a lot of creativity put into this and the lines of the velcro really made it feel like a group of real people. The attention to detail on the sets were awesome. Please tell me you plan on making it a movie.

Good video, and apretty balanced take? Often I here the defense of the show being hinged on this misconception about "what is lore" ...the games are not the lore, but provided the contexualization from which lore is depicted . We must realize that the Reach Novelization was written when I was six... I'm damn near in my 30s mate... That's 20 plus years of lore building and timelines, there are hundreds of stories, John 117 has hundreds of engagements to reference for shows. Yet the characters in the show are reconextualized without justification? They are not the characters in the lore, now the entire series counts as sublore... The covies are different in intent and focus, the UNSC and Spartan relationships condensed nearly a decade of development into one series... that's just to much to "just wing it" The issue people had with the newer star wars leads to the belief in subcanonical developments, a subculture within the community where the world is now narrowed and nuances in the representation of specific patterns and aspects of the halo franchise are used for fanservice instead of Easter egg or foreplot They needed to just lock it in and tell a story based on the worldview and systems of the lore, not just the Games, as anybody that witnessed the 343 transfer would remember the backlash when they started to remodel the lore established thus far. It grew on us because the additional retcons expanded the material and enhanced our experiences of both the books AND games, and made replaying the eariler installations more worthwhile This is why the halo anniversary additions performed so well, it's the same game with a new coat of paint right? No, 343 took the first two games and updated them with both a decades worth of additional lore that came post h3, but gave us so much more to look forward too, h5-6 The show had a chance to do all of this, and the lack of confidence in doing so hindered all other rational, respectful production companies...because they respected the weight of the medium and wanted to communicate the story as a part of the larger conversation within the halo Canon This is why all over live action adaptations, and even fan creations recieved the love they did. Hell roosterteeth is considered an alternative Canon to the halo lore and the company was asked to constantly cross into the Haloverse, likewise this allowed the show red vs blue to expand on its lore and go and new directions that were embraced by all This wasn't it, and it is because of the fact that these changes were made to suit the producers and production, not the fans nor the potential audience that will be introduced to Halo through this show... it was lazy and extremely irresponsible to even admit as much as they did. But it is likely the only reason more people aren't outraged The division and gaslighting of people who are tired of their IPs being appropriated has to end somewhere, else we will end up with more pandering The influence over the eariler IPs was based on the core audience appeal of the brand, mass marketing and commercialization is allowing companies to side step the issues of supply and demand...and this disrespecting the fans and creating controversy becomes an marketing model as you can offend one group to gain another "target audience" Ie. Last of Us 2 "It's okay though, fans need to stop being selfish with what they devote time and money on" this is not the arguement those supposed fans want to be fighting for, cause what they are practicing is a form of fraud/misrepresentation for financial benefit

Thank you for sharing your process. When I think of stories, I usually think of them as a movie, so starting with a screen play makes sense to me. I like the idea of each chapter being from a characters point of view. I haven't read the Expanse yet, but it is something on my list. I have always been a fan of taking the time to tell the story and not worry about the length. I really saw this come to light after reading The Da Vinci Code. I remember there was a chapter that was a single page and I thought it worked well. It made things easier to read. It also caused me some problems when I would say "just one more chapter" and the next thing I knew it was 1 in the morning and I had to be up in four hours for work. I found your work through a Facebook post about your video of making spaceships, then watched the short, and finally this video. I look forward to reading your work next. Thanks again for sharing this.
